Why is being a PCA important for you?
I am a complicated creature and in my complexity I am also social. Although I can be timid and very reserved, I have always sought to work in places where I am interacting with my clients. This allows me to enjoy the human experience I have been interested in for so long. Being a PCA allows me to not only observe the human experience, but also be a part of it.
Why do you recommend UTEP students use PCA's?
Most of the student population does not really know about what we can offer them. Seeing us as peers, rather than dictators that just bark orders and instructions at them, helps students realize that there is a bigger world outside of college. Some of us just realize it sooner that others but we strive to get our fellow comrade students up to par.
What do you like most about working for the Career Center and the SSSP?
In all honesty, I like working in a setting where I am learning everyday. There is no greater lesson life can throw at you than to be humble yet wise with your knowledge. I like being on a first name basis with the students who I am helping. I feel this is my chance to return all the support I have received as being a member of SSSP.
What is you dream job?
If I could make travelling the world and studying language after language my full time job, I would be so ecstatic! My ultimate goal is to step foot on the remaining continents before I die. There are so many places to see, cultures to learn from, and experiences to make your own, why stop at just this half of the globe?
