Dear Friends and Colleagues:
Recently, because of policy changes within the Federal Government and a tough economy, we surveyed representative government employees. Our goal was to secure your thoughts about the Government and Public Service Career Fair and recruiting in general:
·How will changes in government policy affect hiring?
·Do you still anticipate being able to come to campus?
·Is a special fair dedicated to public service still appealing?
·What time frame is best if we have a dedicated fair?
In light of the feedback we received from you and your colleagues, The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and New Mexico State University (NMSU), once again are teaming up to offer a venue for you to recruit our students into public service. The Government and Public Service Career Fair is planned this year for November 15 at NMSU and November 17 at UTEP, and we invite you to participate. Located just 40 miles apart, these two Hispanic – Serving Institutions (HSIs) have a combined enrollment of over 40,000 students, and we’re growing. We encourage you to attend both events; in fact, we have again arranged a special rate for those who wish to do so.
Candidates from all of the region’s post-secondary educational institutions, including El Paso Community College, Western New Mexico University, Sul Ross University, and the branch campuses of New Mexico State University, will be invited to participate in this collaborative event. It presents an opportunity for you to enjoy great success in your efforts to hire bright and talented candidates and to diversify your workforce.
Of course we continue to offer career events throughout the academic year and to coordinate our dates so that you can get “more bang for your buck.”You are encouraged to visit our web sites (utep.edu/careers or careerservices.nmsu.edu) if you wish to gather more information.
Please join us for our third annual Government and Public Service Career Fair in the beautiful, multicultural Southwest. For additional information, contact either of our event coordinators, Moisés Buenfil, at UTEP (915) 747.5640 or mbuenfil@utep.edu, or Kevin Andrew, at NMSU (575) 646.1631or kandrew1@nmsu.edu. We hope to see you in November. Thanks for all the exciting career opportunities that you make available to our students.
