Dear Human Capital/Resources Officers:
Through effective collaboration and the wise use of this country’s vast resources, America is destined to continue its leadership position on the world stage. Leading this national effort for our thriving democracy will be the myriad of non-profit, municipal, state and federal agencies charged with supporting our citizenry. Success of this herculean endeavor will rest on the shoulders of the dedicated public servants charged with carrying out their critical job duties.
In order to assist agencies with the ongoing challenge of identifying, recruiting and hiring the best talent to fill their “mission-critical” occupations, a national recruiting forum, the Borderlands Public Service Career Showcase, has been developed and will be held November 17 and 19, 2009. On behalf of the co-sponsors, the Career Center at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and Career Services at New Mexico State University (NMSU), we are extending this invitation to participate. Day one of this dynamic event will be held at NMSU on November 17 and day two will be held at UTEP on November 19. Located in southern New Mexico and west Texas, these two premier Hispanic – Serving Institutions (HSIs) have a combined enrollment of over 37,000 students and are approximately 40 miles apart. For your convenience, we have arranged a special rate for those who wish to attend both events. (See rates below.)
Candidates from all of the region’s post-secondary educational institutions, including El Paso Community College, Western New Mexico University, Sul Ross University and the branch campuses of New Mexico State University, will be invited to participate in this collaborative effort. The academic talents and cultural diversity of the candidate pool should help all agencies attain their strategic talent acquisition goals for the new federal fiscal year and beyond.
For those agencies still seeking top-notch talent for the current fiscal year, both institutions hold an annual Career Expo fair to kick off the fall 2009 semester. Career Expo at NMSU is slated for September 22-23, with more details to be found at careerservices.nmsu.edu.
The fair at UTEP will be held on the 24th and 25th of September.
