FITNESS PROGRAMS
The Recreational Sports Department encourages the UTEP community to participate in regular physical activity. Good music, cardiovascular exercise, and knowledgeable instructors who emphasize safety and fun combine to make our fitness classes a well-balanced program. Warm-up exercises, stretching, and flexibility lead to a more rigorous workout of continuous movements. Each class ends with a cool down and stretching segment. Our fitness classes are inexpensive, offered at convenient times and each class lasts a semester. But most importantly, they are fun, energizing, and for men and women of various fitness levels
WEAR APPROPRIATE FOOTWEAR
Proper shoes should be worn to help prevent injuries. An aerobics shoe should consist of the following components: adequate support, thick leather uppers for durability, firm mid-sole for stability (arch support), cushioning, and overall comfortable. Appropriate shoe is required in all aerobics classes.
KNOW YOUR LIMITS: Even though the classes have been carefully structured for safety, it is your responsibility to go at your own pace and keep your personal safety in mind.
Celebrate NATIONAL PHYSICAL FITNESS MONTH in May and attend Fitness Programs from May 10th to May 21st absolutely FREE. It is a great opportunity to learn about physical fitness and to get healthy. It is not just one month, one week or one day, “Improving physical fitness is truly about creating a healthy lifestyle.”
FREE CLASSES offered during the first week of the semester provide a good opportunity to try a new class and/or preview some of the available programs and instructors.
