International Student Services

UTEP is committed to a diverse student population.  To provide all students an opportunity to experience diverse viewpoints, OIP facilitates the attendance of international students, as well as instruction and research by international scholars, from a wide variety of countries. 

Immigration and cultural advising

The advisors in the Office of International Programs are trained to help students navigate the complex immigration rules that apply to them as students in F or J status. We also help students with some of the difficulties that can arise when a student is trying to adjust to a new environment . All of our advisors have lived or worked in another country and know that as exciting and rewarding as studying in another country can be, it can come with some "bumps", so to speak. We also know who on campus and in the community is best suited to help students when we don't know the answer. An advisor is available on a walk-in basis every weekday from 1:00-4:30. For in-depth issues, appointments are available as well.

Event Programming 

The Office of International Programs invites students to get out there and participate in as many events and activities as possible, and UTEP has a wide offering from which to choose. Participating in events and getting involved in co-curricular activities can help students feel more connected to UTEP and ease feelings of isolation and homesickness that can get inthe way of academic and cultural learning.
