Orientation
Congratulations! Welcome to the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). We look forward to welcoming you in person to campus and working with you during your time at UTEP.
If you are coming from out of town, please plan to arrive in El Paso, Texas, before August 15, 2009. This is the day that UTEP’s orientation for all incoming students begins, and is the first step to getting registered in classes. It is generally better to arrive earlier so that you can get settled and rested before orientation. You are allowed to enter the country on your F-1 visa up to 30 days prior to the report date (item 5) on your I-20. Once you enter the country, you have 15 days to report to our office. So, come see us first thing. We want to get to know you.
All international students are required to attend a mandatory New International Student Orientation scheduled for Saturday August 15, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Tomas Rivera Conference Center, Union East, third floor, UTEP Campus.
This orientation is different from the regular New Student Orientation (undergraduates), and the Graduate Student Orientation (master’s and doctoral students), which you also should attend. This orientation has been designed to offer international students information about academic, social and cultural opportunities, and to provide support in making the transition to UTEP and the El Paso/Juarez community. You will also learn about maintaining your legal immigration status, and the services available to you here at UTEP to help you be a successful student.
The Office of International Programs is here to serve you, and we encourage all new students to become familiar with our services and join in our programs. We look forward to meeting you at our New International Student Orientation.
If you have any questions prior to your arrival, please contact us.
