| CONFIRMATION OF FINANCIAL RESOURCES | Before UTEP can issue your I-20 or DS-2019, you must prove that you have the financial resources to attend UTEP for a full academic year and to afford living expenses for 12 months. (Note: Summer is attendance is optional unless you are beginning your program in the summer. If you will be attending UTEP in the summer, then you will need additional funds above the listed amounts to pay your tuition). For degree seeking international students (F-1), the Offices of Undergraduate or Graduate Admissions will issue your I-20. For exchange students and scholars (J-1), the Office of International Programs will issue your DS-2019. In order to complete this step, you must complete the Confirmation of Financial Resources form with original signatures as well as original supporting financial documents no more than 6 months old. The chart below shows you how much it costs to attend UTEP for one academic year.
If you are a Mexican national, then you should be aware that there is an in-state tuition waiver program at UTEP called PASE (Programa de Asistencia Estudiantil) for which you may qualify. If you apply for PASE and are approved, then your cost of attendance will be reduced.. Also, if you have been offered a graduate assistantship , you will automatically be given in-state tuition, and so it is not necessary to complete this form. If a student has received an academic appointment (teaching or research assistantship) at the graduate level, it is safe to use the corresponding funding as a means of financial support, and such funding may be listed on this form. However, most types of student employment on campus cannot be guaranteed, and therefore cannot be utilized as a funding source for the purpose of this form. If you are a married student and plan to bring your spouse and/or children on an F-2 or J-2 visa, an additional amount of funding must be available for your spouse and each child. (Note: your spouse may apply for work permission only if you hold a J-1 visa, but must be only for professional development reasons. Spouses of F-1 visa holders are not permitted to work under any circumstances). You are also required to provide copies of your marriage license for dependent spouses, copies of birth certificates for dependent children, and copies of the passport for each dependent.
