Ø Provide accommodations in the classroom and/or course examinations only to students who are registered with DSSO. The professor is not obligated to provide an accommodation to a student who has not provided him/her with verification from DSSO.
Ø Use proctoring services when unable to accommodate the student during an exam/quiz because he/she
· is unable to provide needed extended time and/or
· does not have needed space and/or
· does not have needed adaptive technology
· exam/quiz needs to be provided to DSSO 24 hours in advance if proctoring services are needed with instructions on how to administer exam/quiz indicated on proctoring sheet
Ø Use a syllabus statement to invite students to disclose their accommodation needs:
“If you have or suspect you have a disability and need an accommodation please contact Disabled Student Services at 747-5148, at dss@utep.edu or in Room 106 Union East Building.”
Ø Discuss with DSSO any concerns related to an accommodation or arrangements that have been requested by the student that may jeopardize the academic standards or integrity of the course or program
Ø Treat information about a student’s disability as confidential and keep separate from the student’s academic records
