Requesting An Assistive Listening Device (ALD) Minimize    

·        A student can check out ALD from DSSO as early as the Friday before the semester begins or during the 1st week of classes.

 

·      The student is required to return ALD to DSSO by the last day of final exams. 

·   The student is responsible of  the care of ALD while in his/her care.

A financial hold will be placed on a student’s records until ALD is returned to DSSO or payment is received from student for the loss or damage to ALD
   
How To Use An ALD Minimize    

o       The receiver with microphone needs to be worn by professor/speaker

 

  • Microphone attached to receiver of ALD should not be placed next to another microphone being used in classroom because it could cause feedback

o       The transmitter with ear piece or FM loop is worn by student 

 

  • If using ear piece, it will need to be connected to transmitter
  • If using FM loop around neck, it will need to be connected to transmitter and hearing aide will need to be placed on the “T” setting that is used for the telephone
  • Volume button on transmitter can be adjusted by student to control amount of amplification needed

An ALD that is not functioning properly should be taken to DSSO immediately to be examined and/or replaced
