Eligibility For This Accommodation Minimize    

Priority registration--a student may be eligible for priority registration if he/she has a substantial  limitation in:

 

  • Mobility, learning and/or physical ability and may need 

o        A sign language or an oral interpreter

o        Books-on-tape and/or reader

o        Textbook(s) converted to an MP3 audio file

o        Text materials converted into Braille

o        Accommodation to be planned well in advance to ensure physical access to buildings/classrooms (elevator, ramps, automatic doors, and accessible table and/or chair)

o        Close proximity of classrooms

o        Any other accommodation that DSSO determines to be reasonable and appropriate

 

   
For Registration Assistance Minimize    

·         DSSO staff is available to assist the student to enroll in classes by appointment or walk-in hours

 

·      Student needs to have been advised, cleared of financial or academic holds, and have list of classes with call numbers ready with him/her

 

·      List of classes should not be dropped of at DSSO, student needs to be presents during registration process

 

·      To ensure that classes are open, and that DSSO is able to assist the student in the best possible manner, the student should come to DSSO for Priority Registration no later than the 3rd week of the start of the UTEP registration process.  Students coming in after the 3rd week of the registration process may find many of the classes closed. 

·      DSSO DOES NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO OPEN A CLOSED CLASS
If a class is closed, it will be the student’s responsibility to obtain the appropriate paperwork with needed signatures from individual departments in order to enroll for that course.
