  Is a part-time staff member from DSSO whose role is to  
          facilitate communication between student and 
          professor/classroom environment.  
    Translates spoken English into Sign Language and vice versa

How to use an Interpreter    

 

When referring to transparencies or chalkboard, pause briefly so
     that the student can look at this information and then at the
     interpreter/CART provider.

When reading directly from text, provide advance copy to 
     interpreter or CART provider and pause slightly when reading
     text.

Use captioned videos whenever possible.

If classroom must be darkened make sure interpreter is clearly
     visible to student.
