Membership is offered to the university community, their spouse & children.  Membership may be purchased at the S & F C Office in the form of cash or check, or at the Academic Services Building (Cashier’s) in the form of cash, check, or credit card. 

UTEP students, faculty, and staff must purchase membership in person and must
present their UTEP ID.  Alumni Association members must make the purchase for membership and must present their current Alumni Association card with photo ID.


All memberships purchased are for the current fiscal year and will expire August 31st.  Membership rates are per person and are not prorated.

Children under the age of 6 are permitted at no charge when accompanied & supervised by a parent or guardian member at all times.  Children 17 years and younger are not permitted in the Exercise Room.

 

MEMBERSHIP FEES

 

Single Use Fee:  (Alumni-$5/Faculty and Staff-$3) Allows potential members the opportunity to utilize the facility for the day without purchasing yearly Membership.  It is limited to UTEP faculty, staff, & Alumni Association members with their UTEP & photo IDs.  The number of visits is not limited.  Single Use Fees are paid at the Control Center.

GUEST FEES

 

Members 18 years & older may bring a limit of four (4) guests per visit.  Members take full responsibility for the actions and conduct of their guests.  Upon request, adult guests should present a photo ID.

POLICIES

Lockers:  Bring a lock & Secure Belongings In A Locker.   Small lockers are available per semester.  Large lockers are for daily use only and items must be removed by nightly closing of the facility.  Items in large lockers left overnight will be removed and placed in Lost & Found. 

All locks must be removed at the end of each semester.  Final date of use is posted in advance in each Locker Room. 

Lost, stolen, or misplaced articles are not the responsibility of the S & F C.  For information on such items, contact University Police at
747-5611.

Children:  ALL CHILDREN 17 years of age and under must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian member at all times. 

Non-University students under the age of 18 are not permitted into the Exercise Room.

Dressing Rooms:  Children over the age of five may not use the locker room of the opposite sex.  Please make use of the bathrooms in the swimming pool area for changing.

Parking:  All users must have a valid decal to utilize University Parking Property.  Spouses and alumni members may purchase a parking permit for the Swimming & Fitness Center area only. Cost for a parking permit is $1.00. 
Permits are restricted to the upper parking lot (Lot CD 1) and are one per member. 

Towel Service:  Towels may be purchased at the University Bookstore at a current rate of $9.00/towel.  Hand towels may be purchased at the S & F C Control Center at a rate of $4.00/towel. Members with either UTEP towel may exchange their used UTEP towel for a clean UTEP towel with the Control Center Attendant. 

Replacements:  Lost or destroyed membership cards or parking permits may be replaced at the S & F C Office at a cost of $5.00 each.


 

ABOUT THE FACILITY

 

The Swimming & Fitness Center is located on Sun Bowl Drive at the Student Recreation Complex (SRC).  The facility offers UTEP students, faculty, staff, alumni and their guests an outstanding opportunity to increase their fitness level by a variety of recreational activities.

The facility has two temperature controlled indoor swimming pools that provide users with lap swimming, water volleyball, water basketball, diving, and a variety of other water activities. 

The Exercise Room is equipped with a variety of free weights, weight machines and, cardiovascular equipment. The designated cardio-theater area allows for personal viewing and listening enjoyment while accomplishing an aerobic workout.   

The facility is equipped to meet the ADA needs of the physically challenged.  Water wheelchairs and lifts to enter the pool are available.  Users requiring assistance or instruction are encouraged to contact a facility supervisor. 

Facility tours are available to individuals or groups.  Those interested in a tour should make arrangements through the S & F C Office at least 48 hours in advance.

Event spectators are allowed access in designated seating areas only.  Food and drinks are only permitted in the lounge area.  Non-spilling sport bottles containing water are allowed beyond the lounge area. 

The Swimming & Fitness Center is provided for use by members of the university community.   Access into the facility requires proper membership identification.  University affiliated groups or organizations wishing to reserve the facility should make their inquiry in advance by phoning 747-8101.
